THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY at SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY seeks to recruit a tenure-track position in ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY at the Assistant Professor level with the appointment beginning Fall 2024.

We seek candidates with research and teaching specialties that complement those existing within the department. SDSU is located in San Diego with established and growing ties to the local biotech hub, and has a campus in nearby Imperial Valley with affiliations to the burgeoning lithium energy sector. We welcome all candidates who will foster research collaborations on campus, and particularly encourage applicants who will prepare students for careers in these local industries. SDSU has a diverse student body and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The Chemistry and Biochemistry department is highly research active and is an integral part of the university's strategic plan to become an R1, premier public research university in the near future.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust, extramurally funded, independent research program, to mentor undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students in research, and to be prepared to teach courses in upper division and graduate analytical chemistry. We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $92,000-$95,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
